Does every bank support Euro Express Elixir?
Not all of them – the service is available in banks that have signed a participation agreement with KIR and implemented the required technology to exchange payment messages under the SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) scheme.
Banks that have already implemented the service provided by KIR include:
- Santander
- mBank – Slovakia Branch
- PKO Bank Polski and its branches in the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania and Slovakia
Under the Instant Payments Regulation (IPR), banks offering euro transfers are required to implement instant payments, so the reach of the service will keep growing.
What currencies are supported?
Euro Express Elixir instant transfers are made in euro only.
Can I send money to any country?
You can send a transfer to any country within the SEPA area – as long as the recipient’s bank supports instant euro payments. You can check the list of supported banks in the European Central Bank’s directory.
How do I make an instant euro transfer?
If your bank supports instant euro transfers, Euro Express Elixir will simply appear as one of the available payment options.
Important:
Banks may introduce temporary limitations – for example, they might allow receiving instant transfers but not sending them. For details, it’s best to check directly with your bank.
How do I receive an instant euro transfer?
If you have an account with a bank participating in Euro Express Elixir, the money will be credited to your account within up to 10 seconds after the sender initiates the transfer (via another provider connected to TIPS).
Why can my bank receive transfers but not send them?
Some banks roll out the service in stages. They may start with receiving transfers and enable sending later on.
How much does an instant euro transfer cost?
Fees are set individually by each participating bank in its pricing table.
Are there any transfer limits?
There’s no fixed limit within Euro Express Elixir itself, but your bank may set its own limits.
Does KIR charge anything?
No – KIR doesn’t charge customers directly. Your bank sets the fee, but it can’t be higher than for a standard euro transfer.
Can I get my money back if I make a mistake?
Yes – you can request a refund up to 13 months after sending the transfer. Just contact your bank.
Is the refund as fast as the transfer?
No – refunds aren’t instant. They’re processed by the bank and may take longer, depending on internal procedures.
Is the service updated to meet regulations (IPR)?
Yes. KIR keeps Euro Express Elixir aligned with EU regulations, including the Instant Payments Regulation (IPR), which has been in force since April 2024.
The regulation requires banks and payment providers to implement instant euro payments if they already offer standard euro transfers. The rollout starts with eurozone countries and then expands to others.
KIR uses the SCT Inst scheme defined by the European Payments Council (EPC) and continuously tests and implements technical updates, so you can rely on your payments meeting current standards.
Is the service always available?
Yes – it runs 24/7, 365 days a year.
Do I need to sign anything to use it?
No. If your bank supports instant euro transfers, Euro Express Elixir is just one of the available payment methods. No extra agreements or paperwork needed.
What technology is behind it?
Transfers are processed via the TIPS system of the European Central Bank, using the SCT Inst standard. For you, that simply means speed and reliability.
Why does it work so fast?
Because it uses TIPS, which settles transactions between banks almost instantly. It’s a Europe-wide solution based on a single SCT Inst standard.
That’s why your transfer doesn’t wait for clearing sessions, business days, or posting hours – the money just moves from one account to another.
